Overview

This 13,500 feet Pikey peak entwines with the Chyabe across east to west. The name Pikey comes from the two titles of the Sherpas and Tamangs. The month of July is a time of great celebration as the locals worship their clan god, the eastern Chyabo Pike, as Pike Hlapchen Karbu in the celebrations. This is a trail through Jiri-Chaulakharka-Ngaur- to reach the Pike Daanda (Hill) area. Another trail leads from Pike Daanda to Phaplu through Paanch Pokari and Tamakhani located north east from the district centre Salleri.

Pikey Peak trek is not the usual trekking route known by many. This route is usually less traveled, as it is not famous. But Pikey Peak is popular for its breathtaking sunrise and sunset view. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Manaslu, Annapurna can be seen from this magnificent place. This trek is very good for the people who are short on time. Also good for a family trek, Pikey Peak offers a breathtaking view where photography is a must.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival at Kathmandu
    • Altitude: 1,350 m

    Welcome to Tribuvan International Airport Kathmandu the capital of Nepal. We’ll be waiting with a warm greeting with traditional Khata and easy transfer to your Hotel. Check in hotel and then briefing about trek and early fights-out timing and introduce with your guide and staffs.

  • Day 2 : drive from kathmandu to dhap (6-7 hours), trek to Jhapre (2,850m)
    • Altitude: 2,920 m
    • Duration: 6-7hours + 3-4 hours

    The day starts with a good breakfast at the hotel. After the breakfast, we will start our ride to Dhap of about 6-7 hours. After reaching Dhap, we will start our trek to Jhapre. Overnight at Jhapre.

  • Day 3 : Trek from Jhapre (2,920m) to Pikey Base Camp (3,640m)
    • Altitude: 3,600 m
    • Duration: 6-7 hours

    Pikey Base Camp located at an altitude of 3600 m above sea level can be reached after the journey of 6- 7 hours hike from Jiprey. Small tea houses are available in the route to base camp whereas there are 2 hotels at base camp for food and lodging. During spring season (Mid-March to Mid- May), one will be able to see spectacular displays of rhododendrons.

  • Day 4 : Hike up to Pikey Peak (4,070m) and trek to Junbesi
    • Altitude: 2,515 m
    • Duration: 7-8 hours

    We get up early in the morning with warm clothes and climb up Pikey Peak (4070m.).It is about one hour walking to get to Pikey Peak. You will see the best sunrise and magnificent view of the Himalayas like Dhaulagiri, Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, AmaDamlam, Lhotse, Nupatse, Numbur, Gaurisankhar, Langtang to the far west and others mountains. After this unforgettable view, We will see all the mountains from here as well. After that, we hike down to Jarsabhanjyang for breakfast.Then start trek towards Junbesi. We can be reached Taktor(Lunch Place) after 2/3 hrs hiking from Jarsabhyanjyang.After taking lunch we can be reached 2/3 hrs Junbesi from Taktor.Junbesi is considered to be Sherpa's most beautiful villages, which lies at the height of 2990m. above sea level. There are 1 ancient Budhist Monestry.It was the Point old famous route of Everest Trekking Route. there are 8-/10 well facilitated hotels operated by local Sherpas. Pikey base Camp to Junbesi takes 7/8 hours hiking and then overnight at lodge.

  • Day 5 : Trek to Junbesi (2,700m)-Thupten chholing monastery -phaplu
    • Altitude: 2,459 m
    • Duration: 6 hours

    Thupten Chholing is a celibate Buddhist monastery located in the high and remote mountains of Nepal. Founded by His Holiness Thrulsik Rinpoche in the 1960's after fleeing Tibet, it is an independent and autonomous institution. Consequently, Thupten Choling has been able to remain authentically traditional, and hidden from the outside world. Due to its remoteness and increasing population, the 700 resident monks and nuns live with dwindling resources, no public health facilities, and have little chance of sustaining themselves in the long run unless their limited resources are managed wisely.After breakfast, we will take a hike of the Thupten Chholing Monastery 2800m. Explore the monastery and meditate with nuns. Rest of the day is to on your own to explore. Today, we will hike about 4/5 hours, we will have lunch at Thupten Chholing Monastery. Overnight in Phaplu at Lodge.

  • Day 6 : Flight from Phaplu to Kathmandu
    • Altitude: 1,350 m
    • Duration: 20-25 mins
    • Accommodation: Hotel
    • Meal: B

    Early in the morning we catch our flight to Kathmandu. You will be dropped to your respective hotels. Overnight at Kathmandu.

  • Day 7 : KATHMANDU FREE DAY/ SIGHT-SEEING DAY
    • Altitude: 1,350 m
    • Accommodation: Hotel
    • Meal: B D

    This day will be manged per your decision, whether you and your team will be freely roaming around the hotel area or taking a tour with our city guide. A Farewell Dinner will be Hosted.

  • Day 8 : DEPARTURE FROM KATHMANDU
    • Meal: B

    Our staffs will be helping you to reach the airport. You will be dropped at the airport on our reserved vehicle.
