Overview

Makalu Base camp Trek, this trek starts from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar 25-30min via flights and then drive to Num,then trekking to Tashigaon (Sherpa village) and crossing the Shipton La pass *4210m) in to the upper Barun river valley for a close look  a Makalu and Chamlang Himal and Baruntse range. Mt.Makalu (8481m) is the 5th highest peak in the world. After Cross the Shipton La pass it is most remote and unfrequented areas of Nepal. Makalu Base camp trekking lies in the area of Makalu Barun National park eastern part of Nepal, This trekking region is close to Everest Base camp trek and Mera peak trails. Makalu Base camp trek is a true adventure with scenery so beautiful with snow caped mountain and kindly local people that it will never tire you.

Makalu Base camp trek, the highlights of this rich natural paradise include beautiful snow caped mountains, rhododendron forest, and wide variety of plants, animal life ,kind hearted local people, different types of Himalayan wild animals and bird. The best time to Makalu Base camp trekking is between April-May and September-November when the Shipton La passes are less to be covered in snow.

Makalu Base camp Trekking can be organized both tea house and camping trekking now. Before it could be organized only with camping accommodation. However now it is developed little by little as one of the stress-free and hurdle free tea house trekking as well. We have two different options for Makalu base camp trekking. The first one is just Makalu Base camp Trek and the Second one is Makalu base camp-Sherpini-col pass and Amphu lapcha pass Trek to rich Everest region trekking. The first one is can be organize on tea house trek but second on is we have to organize camping trek up to the Makalu base camp to Chhukung, Everest region.

If it is on camping trek or Makalu base camp-Sherpini-col pass and Amphu lapcha pass Trek crosses via high passes, Peak summit Trek arranges you comfortably to sleep in tents. Our staffs include an experience guide, continental Cook, supporting assistant guide/skillful climbing Sherpa for high passes and sufficient porters to carry all your trekking gear. Even if you have never experience camped before, there is no need to worry that you won’t enjoy the experience. The tents we provide are roomy, warm mattresses and -20 sleeping bags are comfortable and continental food of a high standard freshly prepared and served in the camp. On all of our Camping treks and peak climbing, Peak summit Trek manages single / double tents, a bathroom tents, as well as a dining tents with table chair, comfortable atmosphere to eat and talk with fellow trekkers during each evening in camp.

If it is on tea house trek we provide the best available teahouse accommodation and typical Nepalese Mountain lifestyle. Meals are improved continental meal at normal teahouses and have to order on your choice. We provide experienced trekking guide and sufficient strong porters for your logistic transfer during the trek for this teahouse trek. You decide than we organize on your choice.

  • Day 6 : Trek from Tashigaon to Kongma Danda (3,760m)-7 hours

  • Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m) and transfer to Hotel

    Welcome to Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu the capital of Nepal. Our PST representative will be waiting with a warm greeting with traditional Khata and easy transfer to your Hotel. Check in hotel and then briefing about trek and early fights-out timing and introduce with your guide and staffs. Overnight at Hotel, Kathmandu

  • Day 2 : Full Day Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu Valley by private van.

    After Breakfast our tour guide will lead you visit UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu by private car. We will start by visiting the Buddhist stupa of Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey. A panoramic view of Kathmandu city can be seen from the top of Swayambhunath. We then visit the Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, followed by a visit to another Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath.Boudhanath stupa is one of the biggest budhist stupa in Asia. After sightseeing guide will be drop to hotel and preparation for your trek. Overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 3 : Fly from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar 35min then drive to Num (1040m) 4 hrs drives

    PST Guide will come to pick up you at Hotel, and then we start our journey with flight to Tumlingtar. A breathtaking view of the mountains, hills, and rivers that make up the Nepalese landscape, we arrive in Tumlingtar, where we rest for an hour. We then drive to the Num Villages with greenery filling up our landscape. Where our local porters will be waiting for us and introduce to with clients. Overnight at a lodge in Num.

  • Day 4 : Trek from Num to Seduwa (1,500m): 6 hours
    • Altitude: 1500m
    • Duration: 6-7 Hrs

    Before your breakfast is ready to pack your porter luggage and porter will come to collect .we will breakfast around 7:00 O’clock in the morning, After breakfast our real adventure journey will start. Crossing a wooden bridge over Barun River, we enter the Makalu Barun Conservation Area. Our guide will deal with all kinds of legal permits for the trek. We trek through dense forests of juniper and rhododendron passing few villages to finally reach Seduwa village. Overnight in a lodge.

  • Day 5 : Trek from Seduwa to Tashigaon (2,100m),6 hours
    • Altitude: 2100m
    • Duration: 5-6Hrs

    Trekking with Isuwa Khola and Kusuwa Khola on each side, we cross a wooden bridge over Isuwa Khola and pass several small villages and forests. After trekking for a couple of hours and crossing the bridge, we reach the Sherpa village of Tashigaon. The vista of the Himalayas is magnificent from Tashigaon. Overnight at a homestay.

  • Day 6 : Trek from Tashigaon to Kongma Danda (3,760m)-7 hours
    • Altitude: 3760m
    • Duration: 6-7 Hrs
    • Accommodation: Tea House Lodge

    we may have a tough day today as we walk on steep trails on our way to Kongma Danda. We climb stone stairs and come across few lakes and fields filled with yaks, blue sheep, and other Himalayan cattle grazing in the field. Upon reaching Unshisa, we enter Makalu Barun National Park. After 5 hours of trek, we reach Khongma Danda. Overnight at a Khongma Danda Lodge.

  • Day 7 : High Acclimatization Day
    • Duration: 6Hrs

    To acclimatize with high altitude, Guide will leading you mini Hiking near Kongma danda around 300m more high and then back to Lodge and take a rest well. Overnight in Lodge at Khongma Danda.

  • Day 8 : Trek from Kongma Danda to Dobato/Mumbuk 6-7 hours
    • Altitude: 3520 m
    • Duration: 6-7 Hrs

    Today will be a tough day for us as we have to pass four passes to reach Dobato. This day we will provide you pack lunch, we start with climbing over Kongma La Pass (3603m) and then head on to Keke La Pass (4127m). We further climb on to Shipton La pass (4170m), where we stumble across beautiful Kalo Pokhari Lake. Then, we trek for a couple of hours and pass Tutu La Pass (4080m) then descent to finally reach Dobate. We relish the alluring view of Chamlang (7319m), Peak 6 (6524m), Peak 7 (6758m), and the other Himalayas from Dobate. Overnight at a lodge/ in Dobato.

  • Day 9 : Trek from Dobato to Yangri Kharka (3,557m) 6 hours
    • Altitude: 3557m
    • Duration: 6 Hrs
    • Accommodation: Tea House Lodge
    • Meal: B L D

    Trekking through dense rhododendron forests, we cross Barun River and trek towards Yangri Kharka. On our way, we may come across yaks grazing in the field. The yaks are the chief transportation means in these regions. After 6 hours of trek, we reach Yangri Kharka. Overnight at a lodge.

  • Day 10 : Trek from Yangri Kharka to Langmale Kharka: (4,410m)5-6 hours
    • Altitude: 4410m

    we trek along the lush Himalayan forests and cross a couple of wooden bridges over small streams to reach Merek. Chasing the mesmerizing view of the Himalayas, we continue our trek walking on moraines and pass small Himalayan villages to reach Langmale Kharka. Overnight at a homestay. 

  • Day 11 : Trek from Langmale Kharka to Makalu Base Camp: (4,870m): 6-7 hours

    Climbing on a steep trail alongside Barun Nadi, we walk through icy glaciers and ridges to reach Shershong kharka . We relish the beauty of Mt. Makalu (8481m) on our way to the base camp. We trek for an hour or two to finally reach Makalu Base Camp. Here from you can enjoy seeing Mt.Makalu fifth highest Mountain in the world. The panorama of the Himalayas from the base camp is jaw-dropping. Overnight at Makalu Base Camp.

  • Day 12 : Explore Makalu Base Camp- Hiking day 5hrs, 5150m

    Today we explore the Makalu Base Camp vicinity with a superb panorama of Makalu from the south face, We relish the beauty of the surrounding glaciers and glacial lakes. We can also hike a little up to Barun Glacier and make a side trip to the tranquil Barun Pokhari. Overnight at Makalu Base Camp.

  • Day 13 : Trek from Makalu Base Camp to Yangri Kharka: 6-7 hours
    • Altitude: 3557m

    After our successful trek to Makalu Base Camp, we bid farewell to the base camp and descend to Yangri Kharka. Trekking through sparse forests along the rocky trails, we pass small villages of Shershong, Langmale Kharka, and Merek on our way to Yangri Kharka. Overnight at a lodge.

  • Day 14 : Trek from Yangri Kharka to Dobato: 6 hours
    • Altitude: 3520m
    • Duration: 6 Hrs

    Trekking along free-flowing Barun River, we pass alpine forests, rocky ridges, and few small streams to finally reach Dobate. We relish the beauty of nature while descending to Dobate. On our way, we may come across some yaks, snow pigeons, and blue sheep. Overnight at a lodge in Dobate.

  • Day 15 : Trek from Dobato to Kongma Danda: 6-7 hours
    • Altitude: 3760m
    • Duration: 6-7 Hrs
    • Accommodation: Tea House Lodge

    we leave Dobato for Kongma Danda. This day we will provide you pack lunch. We trek along rhododendron, juniper, and fir forests to reach Mumbuk. From Mumbuk, we cross Tutu La Pass (4080m), Shipton La Pass (4170m), Keke La Pass (4127m), and kongma La Pass (3603m) to finally reach Kongma Danda after 7 hours of trek. Overnight at a lodge.

  • Day 16 : Trek from Kongma Danda to Seduwa 1500m. 7-8 hours
    • Altitude: 1500m
    • Duration: 7 Hrs

    we trek through dense forests and pass few lakes on our way back to Tashigaon. Trekking along steep rocky trails, we exit Makalu Barun National Park as we trek for 4 hours to enter the beautiful Sherpa village of Tashigaon.and continue trek down to Seduwa villages. Overnight at a lodge in Seduwa.

  • Day 17 : Trek from Seduwa to Num 1040m,5 hours
    • Altitude: 1040m
    • Duration: 5 Hrs
    • Accommodation: Tea House Lodge
    • Meal: B L D

    we trek across several dense rhododendron and bamboo forests and cross Arun River to exit Makalu Barun Conservation Area. We pass a small rural settlement of Sherpa on our way to Num. We then trek for a couple of hours to reach the Sherpa village of Num. this day we will celebrate last day farewell with all porters, Overnight at a lodge in Num.

  • Day 18 : Drive from Num to Tumlingtar: 4-5 hours
    • Duration: 4 Hrs

    Today is the last day of our trek. We relish the joy of driving along steep trials with the beautiful panorama of Mt. Makalu (8481m) for the last time before reaching Tumlingtar. After driving for 4 hours, we reach Tumlingtar. Overnight at a lodge.

  • Day 19 : Tumlingtar to Kathmandu-35 min flight

    After a successful trek, we fly back to the capital enjoying the beautiful aerial view of the mountains. After arrival Kathmandu Feel frees to spend your leisure time as you please. Fare well dinner with Nepalese typical restaurant. Overnight at a hotel.

  • Day 20 : Final Departure from Kathmandu

    Peak summit Trek representative will drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport and bid you warm farewell with traditional ‘khata’ to say bye, Namaste!
